Comprehensive Addiction Treatment Program in Dallas, TX

Our signature treatment platform.

What is the Lighthouse Extended Care Program?

The Extended Care Program at Lighthouse is a nationally-recognized, intensive, six to twelve month treatment program designed to build foundational integrity in one’s sobriety. Through a combination of supportive housing (Sober Living), a psychiatric evaluation and ongoing psychiatric support, tailored clinical services (Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient), and life-skills coaching, this program focuses not solely on Substance Abuse issues, but on co-occurring Mental Health disorders and underlying addiction drivers such as shame and trauma.

Additionally, the Extended Care Program focuses heavily on a custom-built life-skills curriculum, whereby individuals with “failure-to-launch” will graduate with budgeting and financial literacy, time management and conflict management skills, amongst many other modalities.

We are selective in our application process and keep both our living environment and clinical group sizes very small (8 per versus an industry average of 15-24). This program (like others at Lighthouse) is designed to be adaptable to the needs of each client and their family. We ensure this by operating with an industry-leading staff-to-client ratio and designing in-house curriculums.

Components of the Extended Care Program

Personalized sober living with a strong family support system.

Psychiatric Support

Every client first undergoes an extensive in-house psychiatric evaluation. This evaluation is followed-up with weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly meetings whereby our Clinical Director is working closely with the psychiatric team. This ensures better wraparound care and synchronicity between Psychiatric and Clinical treatment planning.

Partial Hospitalization

Partial Hospitalization is a one month long, 6 hour per day, 5 day a week clinical curriculum designed to tackle issues commonly seen in early sobriety. Here client will establish positive goals, engage in group workshops, have supportive structure throughout the day, and lay the foundation for further programming.

Intensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient is a three month long, 3 hour per day, 3 day a week clinical program. During this period, clients are starting to “practice” the tools gained during Tier One in real-world scenarios.

Supportive Housing

During each phase of the clinical program, clients are housed in one of four homes located nearby our clinical office. There’s 30+ hours a week of in-house group meetings, where clients build community and peer-support in recovery, one of the strongest determinants of continued success.

Partial Hospitalization (Month 1)

The first month in the Extended Program at Lighthouse is highly structured and is for individuals who need to build confidence in their sobriety. We’ll provide you with the necessary tools, support, knowledge, and most importantly, real-world application. We employ staff specializing in a wide range of modalities, allowing us to provide a more comprehensive approach. Our curriculum is not an off-the-shelf model, it’s been designed completely in-house, from scratch, using our team’s decades of cumulative experience.

The IOP level of care gives clients the tools and more opportunity for practical application.

Supportive Housing (Months 1-6+)

Supportive Housing is a key element of the Extended Care Program – allowing clients the ability to slowly reintegrate back into work or school, and all the while, build the relationships and skills they’ll need for long-term success in sobriety. As part of Lighthouse, each resident receives an individualized “progress-based” program, a variety of in-house community-based groups, family case management, and a number of recreational activities, to name a few. Additional program highlights include:

• Weekly one-on-one meeting with a designated Case Manager
• Weekly family consultation with Case Manager who works to provide insight and support
• 10+ hours of in-house group programming covering topics such as healthy relationships, boundary-setting, family systems, and relapse prevention
• A focus on life-skills training covering topics such as time, tasks, goals, finances, and stress management
• Attendance at required outside meetings
• Bi-monthly organized recreational activities
• Randomized Drug and Breathalyzer testing at no additional cost

Recovery Coaching (Months 6-12+)

We help keep clients on the right path for a lifetime of recovery. Recovery Coaches work as an advocate, supporter, and liaison. We take the lead in the rebuilding process and help alleviate the stress that comes with navigating early sobriety alone. Because we work so closely with our clients, we’re able to pick up on subtle behavioral changes that might point to an upcoming lapse back to drugs or alcohol. A few of the program highlights include:

• Highly trained staff immersed in the Lighthouse Philosophy
• Two (2) weekly one-on-one meetings with a designated Recovery Coach
• Weekly family consultation with Recovery Coach who works to provide insight and support
• 24/7 Emergency Availability should any crisis occur
• A focus on life-skills training (see below for more information)
• We function as a communication hub, centralizing the flow of information from Primary Care Center, Doctors, Lawyers, Recovery (AA) Sponsors, School Administrators (if applicable)
• Randomized Property searches at no additional cost
• Randomized Drug and Breathalyzer testing at no additional cost

Who is Extended Treatment for?

Extended Treatment is for individuals for whom a tightly structured and supportive environment is necessary. This program is for males only who average in age between 17-35. Most likely, the client has had numerous unsuccessful attempts at sobriety. A current theme amongst Extended Treatment clients is a general “Failure to Launch” i.e. a lack of life skills, ability to self-manage, and continual relapses.

Why Lighthouse?

Lighthouse is a nationally-recognized provider with decades of combined staff experience. With a holistic approach across all modalities we specialize in crafting individualized programs to meet the needs of each clients and their families. Read more here.

Do I have to engage in Clinical Services if I'm just interested in Sober Living?

In short – no. The Extended Treatment Program at Lighthouse is a combination of all the services we provide, but these services can be attended separately. We require an assessment prior to admission so that we can recommend a suitable level of care per individual. In some instances the entire Extended Program is necessary, in others, just Sober Living alongside Individual Therapy may be sufficient.

What could insurance cover?

Insurance carriers will most often cover the costs of our Clinical Program (Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient). However, out-of-pocket expenses such as deductibles and co-payments will apply. We are in-network with most providers to help reduce these costs. Sober Living and Recovery Coaching are not covered by insurance.
