What Should You Look for When Choosing an IOP in Dallas?

With many reasons behind enrolling in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), there’s just as many factors to consider when choosing which IOP program. As someone fighting the cycle of addiction, you want to ensure the investment in your continued care is professional, complete, and successful.

While not exhaustive, here’s a list of what to look for when selecting your IOP program:

  • Certified in the industry

A quick check into the accreditations of an IOP program is a good first step. At Lighthouse Recovery, all clinical services are JCAHO certified – the most comprehensive set of standards a Behavioral Healthcare organization can achieve. We’re also members of both NAATP and NAADAC. Needless to say, we adhere to and surpass the industry’s highest standards.

IOP Program Benefits

We employ staff specializing in a wide range of modalities, allowing us to provide a more comprehensive approach. These modalities include, but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Interpersonal Therapy (PIT), and Eye Movement Desensitization, and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Our highly trained staff work intensively with clients to address core issues. Every IOP session is aimed at reducing negative behaviors by addressing the emotions and thoughts that are often behind them. We work diligently and compassionately to make clients feel safe and understood.

Our flexible programming allows clients to continue to live at home, go to work or attend school, and still get the therapeutic support they need. The average intensive outpatient program lasts eight to twelve weeks and combines three group therapy sessions and one individual therapy session per week. We offer night groups and telehealth options for those with busier schedules.

Depending on the severity of the client’s case, programmatic therapy can be dramatically more cost-effective than a standard Inpatient Treatment program. We work with most private insurance providers to offset the majority of programming costs.

Insurances We Accept

Lighthouse accepts 100+ private insurance policies and offers cost-effective private-pay plans.
  • Individualized approach

There are a myriad of reasons you might be Googling “iop program near me”.  Has alcohol addiction gotten out of hand? Does your loved one need assistance breaking free of a drug addiction? Because each individual entering Lighthouse Recovery is unique, our approach to each Client’s recovery is individualized. While we have a standard level of care within the IOP to include 3 group and 1 individual therapy session per week, the approach is completely tailored to the Client. This is one of the reasons many of our Clients see long-term success against their addiction.

  • Inclusive of the family (if needed)

You may be all too familiar with the impact of your addiction on your family unit, and we know how imperative it is for the family to be involved in the rehab journey, if needed.  Families can hinder or help the recovery process, and our goal is to create a united front ready to help our Client’s truly break the chains of addiction.  For this reason, we offer family therapy sessions if needed as part of our IOP and we truly think of it as a team effort.

  • Small group sizes

Unlike many drug rehabs in Dallas, our group therapy sizes are small. Other drug rehab centers might have up to 20 individuals in a session, whereas we max our groups at 10. Having more time to share, a more intimate community, and more hands on therapy is another reason our small IOP group sizes help deliver long-term success.

  • Masters-level therapists

All of our therapists hold Master’s degrees, are licensed, and have been chosen to work at Lighthouse for their vast range of experiences. Their extensive experience in treating not just the effects of addiction, but the underlying causes and conditions help our Clients achieve recovery.

  • Recovery focused

Since our inception, the goal of the IOP at Lighthouse Recovery is to address the core issues undermining recovery. We use evidence-based methods in our tailored IOP with the key goal of focusing on long-term recovery.  Many drug rehab centers in Dallas focus on breaking the outward symptoms of addiction, but we know to truly break the chain of addiction, healing must start from the inside out.

  • Comprehensive therapy

Look for an IOP that utilizes a holistic curriculum, including a host of therapies outside of just group and individual therapy. For example, through our IOP we utilize: Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Experiential Therapies, Psychodynamic Interpersonal Therapy (PIT)

  • Strong social media reviews and testimonials

Perhaps one of the most convincing reasons to choose one IOP program over another is social proof. Our social media testimonials show a resounding cry of support for our personalized, caring, and successful approach at Lighthouse Recovery. Check them out: Facebook and Google

  • Present and available staff

One praise you’ll hear about Lighthouse Recovery is how available the staff and our leadership is. Just read this review from M. Wallace on Google A positive, caring place that believes in what each of us is capable of. The Lighthouse team goes above and beyond to change lives. I can’t express how much I appreciate this organization. Thank you for all that you do!” Our entire team truly cares for each of our Clients and their recovery.

  • Overall intuition

After checking the important boxes with an IOP’s accreditations, making sure therapists are professionally trained, go with your gut. Visit the drug rehab center and see how you feel.  Are staff members joyful and helpful? Is the space bright? Does it feel safe and trusting? Your intuition can tell you a lot!

IOP Frequently Asked Questions

What is IOP?

Intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a lower level of care on the spectrum of treatment.  It usually consists of three 3-hour group sessions a week with a licensed therapist and at least one 1-hour individual therapy session. IOP is perfect for those stepping down from a Residential or Inpatient Treatment Center, or those that are unable to commit to going away for a minimum of 30 days. IOP is often a good alternative for those with families or careers that they are unable to take too much time away from.

Is IOP right for me?

An intensive outpatient program is suitable for most people at some point in their recovery journey. Although we like to be able to help as many individuals as possible at Lighthouse, some clients require a higher level of care initially due to the severity of their addiction and are later suitable for the IOP level of care. We offer a free assessment for everyone who calls needing help with no obligation to enroll in our programs. Let one of our trained professionals help you make the determination.

How long does IOP last?

Typically, an IOP lasts 8 to 12 weeks. There are a number of factors that help determine the intensive outpatient program length, such as insurance benefits, medical necessity, and engagement.

How much does IOP cost?

Treatment can be expensive, but IOP is often on the lower end cost-wise when comparing it to Residential or Inpatient care. We’re able to work with most private insurances to help offset the cost of your treatment with us.  If for some reason your insurance doesn’t cover our program or you don’t have insurance, we can always discuss our Scholarship Self-Pay rates. Our finance team may be able to help you set up a payment plan, if you are unable to come up with the full cost upfront.

What happens if I relapse in an IOP?

As unfortunate as it may appear to be at the time, every experience can be turned into a positive lesson, if you are honest and seek immediate help. For some people, relapse is part of the process and it only has to be a negative if you don’t work to get back on track. It’s hard for some people to come to terms with being addicted to alcohol or drugs, so a relapse could be the motivation to focus harder on their recovery. If one does occur, call your support system and your program contact immediately. One mistake does not have to derail your journey to lasting recovery and happiness.
