I truly didn’t choose this profession, the profession chose me. After years of encouragement from the people closest to me to get involved in recovery, an unbelievable opportunity was presented to me.
Jeff was a highly successful husband, father, and corporate executive before losing everything to the disease of alcoholism. He struggled for 10 years in his addiction whilst attempting multiple prominent treatment courses, treatment facilities, group counseling sessions, individual counseling sessions, sober living, and AA meetings. It wasn’t until Jeff found that the combination of these resources was the solution that worked for him. Jeff came to work for Lighthouse based on the comprehensiveness of the program. Jeff now enjoys a wonderful relationship with his children, family, and friends. He is able to give back to the community by leading AA meetings at a local homeless shelter and sharing his story of redemption with others.
What inspired you to choose this profession?
What would you want someone to know about working with you?
Anyone I work should know that I’ve been there. I have experienced both the best and the worst life has to offer. My past struggles are still palpable to this very day. I believe in fairness, consistency and accountability.
Why do you work at Lighthouse?
The comprehensive model of recovery represents everything I grasped for in my early recovery attempts. I attempted doing all of the things Lighthouse does but never simultaneously. The staff is now like family to me. The people on the team care for and encourage me on a daily basis.
What do you wish people knew about Lighthouse who might be hesitant to try it?
We, at Lighthouse, “walk the walk.” The things said in interviews and marketing materials are done on a daily basis. Every client is treated with respect and understanding. The use of shaming and blaming clients in recovery does NOT exist at Lighthouse. The staff is truly second to none. We communicate and truly work as a team. We establish individual relationships with clients based upon their current situation. The biggest endorsement I can give is that if my child was struggling, Lighthouse is where I would want him to go!
