Dr. William Clark serves as Medical Director at Lighthouse Recovery, bringing over a decade of distinguished academic medicine experience to his oversight of psychiatric care within our programs. His journey in psychiatry began with exceptional academic achievement, graduating with honors from the University of Texas at Austin’s prestigious Plan II Liberal Arts Honors Program and earning Phi Beta Kappa recognition before completing his medical degree at UT Health Science Center San Antonio. His excellence continued through residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he was named “Most Outstanding Resident in Psychiatry” – an honor awarded to only one resident across all training levels each year.
“What I love most about this work is getting to know each person’s unique story and helping them find the right path forward. At Lighthouse, we believe everyone deserves access to expert, compassionate care that meets them exactly where they are in their journey – and that treating addiction effectively means treating the whole person, including the mental health conditions that so often accompany it.”
For ten years, Dr. Clark served on the faculty at UT Southwestern Medical Center, advancing from Instructor to Associate Professor while taking on increasingly significant clinical, research, and administrative responsibilities. His academic career was marked by leadership roles including Medical Director of the Inpatient Psychiatry Service and Director of the Interventional Psychiatry Service, along with extensive research into cutting-edge treatments for treatment-resistant mental health conditions. After leaving academic medicine in 2023, Dr. Clark shifted his focus to personalized, patient-centered care – combining the rigor of academic medicine with a more individualized approach. His expertise encompasses the comprehensive management of mood disorders, anxiety conditions, and psychotic disorders, with particular skill in treating patients with co-occurring substance use disorders. Dr. Clark’s unique background bridges the gap between cutting-edge research and compassionate clinical care, providing patients access to the most advanced treatment options including neurostimulation therapies and ketamine treatment, while ensuring that each person receives care that is both evidence-based and deeply personal.
