Group Therapy

Three days a week, three hours per day. If the idea of group therapy makes you want to run, you’re not alone – almost everyone feels that way before they start. But addiction thrives in isolation, and recovery happens in connection. Group Therapy is where you learn that you’re not uniquely broken, where shame gets exposed to light, and where you build relationships with people who actually get it. We limit groups to 8 clients, and our clinical curriculum is built from scratch – designed by our team for the clients we actually serve.

Individual Therapy

Weekly, hour-plus, one-on-one sessions with a master’s-level clinician trained across a variety of modalities. Addiction is the symptom. Underneath it is usually something else – trauma, shame, anxiety, family patterns, beliefs about yourself that you’ve carried so long you forgot they were there. Individual therapy is where you untangle all of it. It’s private, it’s personal, and it goes as deep as you’re willing to go. We match on fit – because surface-level therapy produces surface-level results.

Recovery Coaching

What happens between sessions matters as much as what happens in them. Your Recovery Coach meets with you weekly to set goals, build accountability, and help you engage with recovery communities outside of Lighthouse. They’re there when you’re figuring out how to handle a hard conversation, a bad day, or a situation you weren’t prepared for. IOP is temporary – recovery is the rest of your life. Coaching helps you build the outside support system that carries you after treatment ends.

Choose Lighthouse.

Lighthouse is committed to compassionate, evidence-based treatment and fostering a supportive environment where patients feel valued, respected, and empowered to achieve lasting sobriety.

Comprehensive
Approach

Recovery doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Lighthouse combines clinical care, psychiatric support, life-skills training, family work, and continued support into one integrated program designed to address every aspect of a client’s recovery. Whether someone is in our outpatient programs or our Extended Care platform –  they’re getting holistic care –  with every component working together to build lasting recovery and an independent life.

Client-centered philosophy

We treat people, not diagnoses. Every client’s journey begins with a comprehensive assessment, and every treatment plan is built around their unique history, their personal goals, and the level of support they actually need. Our approach is progress-based and shame-free, focused on understanding and addressing the underlying causes of addiction rather than simply managing symptoms. Recovery is deeply personal, and we believe treatment should be too.

Accountability

We work with clients who are ready to do the work. That means high accountability – required meeting attendance, regular drug testing, weekly case management, and clear expectations throughout the process. For some of our Extended Care clients, the decision to come to treatment was made by their family, not themselves, and that’s okay. We meet clients where they are and help them find their own reasons to stay, because lasting recovery requires willingness – and our job is to create the conditions where that willingness can take root and grow.

Clinical Excellence

Our clinical team includes masters-level clinicians with real expertise in trauma, attachment, family systems, and co-occurring disorders. Groups are capped at eight clients – half the industry average – because meaningful therapeutic work requires attention that simply isn’t possible in larger settings. The curriculum is custom-designed in-house, and we maintain JCAHO accreditation, the highest standard in healthcare. Every piece of our clinical infrastructure exists for one reason: to deliver the kind of care that actually produces lasting change.

Nationally Recognized

Lighthouse has been part of the Dallas recovery community for almost ten years, and in that time we’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of clients and their families from across the country. That longevity has shaped everything we do – our clinical approach, our programming, the team we’ve built – because we’ve learned what actually works and what doesn’t. When clients and families are looking for the right fit, they tend to find their way to us.

The team at Lighthouse is exceptional, and it’s clear this work is a calling for them. Our son has grown and matured here, and we’re grateful he’s become part of such a supportive community.

The team at Lighthouse truly cared for my child as a person, not just a client, and kept me supported and informed every step of the way. They became an extension of our family, and I’m deeply grateful for everything they did.

The Lighthouse program is unique – it’s real life, tailored to your person, and supported by staff who have lived the struggle and believe in the fight. The engagement and confidence I’m seeing in my son is proof this is working.

The staff at Lighthouse communicates and functions as a team, from ownership to case managers to clinicians. Our son has found his joy again in sobriety, and the real-life model makes all the difference.

I came in struggling with addiction and had lost almost everything, but Lighthouse changed my perspective on life. The people here are top class and truly care about your health and wellbeing – I’m forever grateful.

From detox to recovery, Lighthouse was there every step of the way with a wonderful staff always available to answer questions. It was the best decision for my son, and I cannot recommend them enough.

As exhausted parents, we never imagined feeling so confident about our son’s care – but Lighthouse’s holistic approach changed that. They are an outlier among programs, and we would recommend them without reservation.

Lighthouse has been a blessing for our family – the combination of programs provided exactly what our son needed to commit to sobriety and maintain it. Recovery is hard work, and they are willing to do that work with you and your loved one.

Right away I could tell the staff truly care – they had been in my exact shoes and made me feel safe, secure, and supported. I made the closest relationships of my life through this program, and I can say it really is the right place.

The team at Lighthouse walked me through every step, and their personalized, firm but compassionate approach made all the difference. I’m so thankful for the care my loved one received and the trajectory their life has taken since.

We felt we had lost our son to drugs eight years ago, but after Lighthouse, he now has a job, an apartment, a car he saved for, and he’s calling to invite us to dinner. What can you say to someone who has given you back your son?

The beauty of Lighthouse is that they allowed me to experience real life – like getting a job – while still receiving long-term treatment in a loving, caring environment. This was my 7th treatment, and it’s the one that worked.

Our son had been in and out of treatment for over 10 years, but Lighthouse gave him the aftercare, community, and sense of self-worth he was missing. He’s now been sober almost a year – we have our son back, and he has his life back.

Peace is the first word that comes to mind when I think about Lighthouse – the staff understood exactly what my loved one needed, and I wholeheartedly believe this program saved his life.

Lighthouse’s comprehensive program was exactly what my son needed to get his life back on track and start believing in himself again. The homes are beautiful, and the staff truly care about the residents.

After researching several programs, we chose Lighthouse for its individualized approach – and our son built a strong foundation during his time there. He’s now thirteen months sober and back in college.

The next chapter starts at Lighthouse.

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

IOP is a level of addiction treatment that provides clinical structure and therapeutic support without requiring you to live on-site. At Lighthouse, IOP includes group therapy three days a week, weekly individual therapy, and ongoing Recovery Coaching. It’s designed for people who are serious about recovery but don’t need 24/7 supervision.

Why does IOP work?

Treatment that removes you from life can only take you so far. At some point, you have to learn how to stay sober while actually living – while working, managing stress, navigating relationships, and facing the situations that used to send you reaching for a drink or a drug. IOP gives you clinical depth while you’re still in the real world, which means you’re not just learning skills in a classroom – you’re applying them immediately. That’s how change actually sticks.

How is IOP different from PHP?

PHP (Partial Hospitalization) is more intensive – typically five days a week, five to six hours a day. It’s designed for people who need more structure and clinical support, often right after detox or residential treatment. IOP is a step down, offering continued clinical care with more flexibility to maintain work, school, or family responsibilities.

Who is IOP for?

IOP works for people stepping down from a higher level of care, people with a stable living environment who need clinical support, and people who can’t put their life on hold but recognize something has to change. It’s also a clinical component for clients in our Extended Care program. If you’re still unsure whether you have a problem, IOP is often where that clarity comes.

Can I work or go to school while in IOP?

Yes. That’s the point. We offer morning, afternoon, and evening groups specifically so clients can maintain their responsibilities while getting treatment. IOP provides enough structure to create real change and enough flexibility to let you keep living your life.

How long does IOP last?

Typically 12 weeks, though the exact length varies based on individual progress and clinical needs. Some clients complete the program sooner; others benefit from additional time. We don’t rush people out, and we don’t keep them longer than they need to be.

Why is group therapy so important?

Most people dread group therapy before they start and say it was the most valuable part of treatment when they finish. Addiction thrives in isolation – it convinces you that no one understands, that your situation is different, that you have to figure this out alone. Group therapy breaks that open. You hear your own story coming out of someone else’s mouth. You say something you’ve never told anyone and the room doesn’t flinch. You realize you’re not uniquely broken. That connection – the experience of being truly understood by people who get it – is something individual therapy alone can’t provide.

How many people are in a group?

We limit groups to 8 participants. The industry standard is 15-30. Smaller groups mean real conversation, real attention, and real accountability – not just sitting in a lecture.

What makes Lighthouse IOP different from other programs?

Most IOPs pack 15-30 people into a room and run through a standardized curriculum. We limit groups to 8, use a clinical curriculum we built ourselves, and pair every client with a Recovery Coach so there’s support between sessions – not just during them. Our clinicians are master’s-level professionals matched to clients based on fit, and they actually communicate with each other about your progress. It’s a system designed to work together, not a collection of services that happen to run at the same time.

Do I need to live in Sober Living to do IOP?

No, but it is often beneficial. Clients who combine IOP with a structured living environment tend to have better outcomes. If you have a stable, supportive home environment, IOP can work well on its own. If your living situation is part of the problem, we can help you find the right fit.

What happens if I relapse during IOP?

Relapse doesn’t mean automatic discharge. It means an honest conversation about what happened and what needs to change. We handle each situation individually and adjust the treatment plan accordingly. The goal is to figure out what went wrong and address it – not to punish you for struggling.

Will insurance cover IOP?

In most cases, yes. Lighthouse is in-network with a number of major insurance providers and accepts over 100 policies on an out-of-network basis. We verify benefits before treatment begins so you know what to expect and can plan accordingly.

What happens after IOP?

Treatment ends, but support doesn’t have to. Throughout IOP, your Recovery Coach helps you build connections to outside recovery communities – meetings, sponsors, relationships that will carry you after the program ends.
