John Bowden
Partner and CEO
“I believe the business of Lighthouse should exist to support programming, not the other way around. That philosophy shapes every decision we make.”
John Bowden is a Partner and Chief Executive Officer at Lighthouse Recovery, which he co-founded in 2017. In his role, John oversees finances, marketing, branding and design, hiring, and long-term strategy – coordinating across all teams to ensure that Lighthouse operates with both excellence and integrity. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics with Financial Applications from Southern Methodist University.
From the beginning, John has structured Lighthouse to be clinical-first – not business-first. He believes that sustainable growth comes from delivering exceptional care, and that the business side of treatment should exist to support programming, not the other way around. That philosophy shapes every decision at Lighthouse, from how resources are allocated to how success is measured. The clinical team leads; operations follow.
John’s role is to ensure that the people doing the direct work – clinicians, case managers, house managers, and support staff – have what they need to do it well. He handles the strategy and infrastructure so they can stay focused on clients and families. It’s a behind-the-scenes role by design, built around the belief that the best outcomes happen when clinical judgment drives the mission and business serves as its foundation.
