Sam holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Substance Abuse from Argosy University. He is a Certified Peer Recovery Coach and Trainer, and brings certifications in Case Management and Motivational Interviewing to his clinical work.
“I find it truly inspiring to work alongside others as they navigate their personal journeys. Throughout my life, I’ve felt a strong pull to help people and make a meaningful difference, which has given me a real sense of purpose and fulfillment.”
Sam’s experience in the recovery field spans over 15 years and includes work across multiple levels of care – from residential treatment and transitional housing to case management and intervention services. Early in his career, he co-founded Soft Landing Transition Services in Wisconsin, a transitional recovery center he conceptualized and built from the ground up to serve individuals moving from controlled settings back into independent living. That hands-on experience of creating something from nothing – and walking alongside hundreds of individuals through some of the hardest transitions of their lives – shaped how he approaches clinical work today.
Sam’s dedication to service has been recognized nationally – in 2012, he was named a Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation Finalist for Citizen Service-Before-Self Honors, one of ten individuals selected for their willingness to sacrifice for others through prolonged selfless acts. That recognition reflects who Sam is at his core: someone who shows up for others, consistently and without fanfare.
